Just now, Nvidia said that they are going to spend $200 million building an AI center in Southeast Asia. A big tech company in the area called Indosat Ooredoo Hutchinson is going to work with them.

Budi Arie Setiadi, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said that the building is thought to be in Surakarta, which is in the province of Central Java. It will have technologies that are experts in infrastructure, human resources, digital talent, and local telecoms.

Not long ago, Inosat announced that it was ready to use Nvidia’s design for AI chips. The reason for this, according to Inosat, was to “launch Indonesia into a new era of autonomous AI and technological progress.”

Since they merged in 2022, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchinson is now Indonesia’s second-biggest cell phone company. Due to its many uses, there has been a big push for technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), to move into Southeast Asia.

Southeast Asia’s digital economy is growing, and gamers there bring in a lot of money for Nvidia. A report from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says that the company has made more than $2 million from Singapore. This makes Singapore the fifth most important source of income for the company, after the United States, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong.

Additionally, Singtel has stated that it will be working with Nvidia to add AI capabilities to their data centers in Southeast Asia. Companies would be able to use Nvidia’s AI technology thanks to this partnership, Singtel said. According to its most recent quarterly report, Nvidia makes most of its money from data centers.
