It’s the biggest investment Amazon has ever made in its history, and it’s for its new AI startup company.

Anthropic, a company in San Francisco, is seen as the leader in artificial intelligence. Amazon is going to put almost three billion dollars into the company. They said last year that they were going to put almost two billion dollars into the company.

Amazon will not have an Anthropic board member, and they will only own a small part of the business. Anthropic finished five different investment deals worth a total of $7 billion. People think that this AI company will be a strong rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The latest addition to the company’s AI program is the Claude 3, which was just revealed. It’s said to be the most powerful and fastest model yet. Even more, the business said its AI model was better than both Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

“Generative AI is poised to be the most transformative technology of our time,” said Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of data and AI, about the upcoming collaboration. “We believe our strategic collaboration with Anthropic will further improve our customers’ experiences, and we look forward to what’s next.” It’s clear from Amazon’s big investment that the company wants to stay ahead of the AI game.

The market for generative AI is very popular and has grown over the years. More and more tech companies are spending on it. Seven hundred different deals worth nearly thirty billion dollars have been made in AI in the past year. People are investing in more than just Amazon. Other companies, like Google with Gemini, have also come out with their own forms.
