California is getting more rain

Another huge wave of rain is coming to California from two dangerous storms. A stormy air mass started in Northern California and is now moving south to Southern California, where it will bring storms on Sunday and into Monday.

With lots of rain and strong winds, the first storm is expected to pose a “significant threat to the safety of Californians,” according to Brian Ferguson, a spokeswoman for the state’s Office of Emergency Operations Services. Although meteorologists say the second storm will be even bigger than the first, people in California should be ready for both of them.

Northern California got three to five inches of rain from the first storm. It was windy and could flash flood in many places. Wind gusts reached up to 70mph. The rain in Southern California got as heavy as an inch per hour, flooding roads in Los Angeles and the neighbors.

People in California are being warned of flooding until Friday because of the storm and high areas like the Sierra Nevada mountains have already seen snow. It will then slide into Arizona, where it will rain a lot near Tucson and Phoenix and snow two feet in the mountains. Because of the storm, even places like New Mexico and Texas have high wind watches.

The second storm will likely hit California on Sunday and bring several inches of rain and floods through Monday. There could be flash floods, mudslides, and rockslides in California, which could get anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of rain. Mountain places, like the Sierra Nevada, can expect at least 5 feet of snow during the same time as the rain.
