Boston Celtic’s former center, Enes Kanter Freedom, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

People are paying attention to the now free agent NBA player’s firm stance on human rights and frequent denunciations of China’s atrocities.

Before the Celtics discarded their center, a member of the Norwegian Parliament nominated him for the prize. Thirty former winners also praised Kanter for standing on the “right side of history” by not trading or cutting him.

“I’m honored and humbled to receive the nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. Sometimes taking a stand is more important than your next paycheck,” said Enes Kanter Freedom posted in a Twitter post.

Even though Freedom, who was traded to the Rockets and then dismissed, is now without an NBA agency, he is still making a difference.

No matter how you feel about him as a player, he’s made a point of supporting human rights all across the world. Many fans have admired Kanter for his outspoken criticisms on social media.

In particular, he often opposes the Chinese government. There’s no one else in the NBA that targets the CCP regularly.

Most NBA players brag about the CCP and are afraid to say anything critical about it. In the context of Daryl Morey’s support for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement, LeBron James seemed to choose the CCP above free expression.

When so many individuals refuse to speak out against the atrocities of the CCP, Kanter-Freedom deserves credit for his righteousness.
