California has officially agreed to let Disneyland grow?!

A plan to make Disneyland even bigger was just passed by the Anaheim City Council. The increase will be the biggest change to any of Disney’s theme parks in California in years. It will cost the company almost $2 million.

The Disney theme park would get bigger so that it’s more immersive and have new Disney hits like “Frozen” or “Zootopia.” As part of the deal, Disney would also have to pay for the city’s infrastructure, better streets, and more affordable homes.

The council agreed with the plan without a single negative vote. It will now be sent to a second council to be accepted officially. Moving parking to a multi-story parking building as part of the plan would help make room for more exhibits by letting them grow.

Disney has also thought about buying a public street to turn into a walkway as part of their plan. They also want to change some places by adding crosswalks. Many people in the area have looked into this to make transportation safer for people going around and near Disney World.

“Not a single project or change is superb. “But I think the gives are greater than the takes in this case,” said Scott Martindale, who lives close to the park and thinks crosswalks would make it safer.

Some people in the area are excited about the possibility of making the exhibit bigger, but they are afraid that the company will buy up streets. That’s when they said the streets would belong to Disney and politicians wouldn’t have much control over what happened.

Disney brings a lot of money and people to the city, and this expansion could make that even better. Most people are interested in the plans, but some are worried about the specifics.
